Insight Interview with Warren Birmingham – HNSW Coaching Director & Former Australian Player

We recently caught up with 2015 NSW Waratah’s Coach and former Kookaburra player Warren Birmingham and discussed coaching and playing at a high level.

Warren is the current Hockey NSW Coaching director and an accomplished ¬†coach and former international player. Warren’s achievements are:

  • Debuted for the Kookaburras in 1984
  • Represented Australia for 1o years
  • Played in 200 matches in 15 major tournaments
  • Played in 1998 Seoul Olympics and 1992 Barcelona Olympics
  • Won a Silver Olympic Medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics
  • Played in 3 world cups winning 1 Gold and 2 bronze medals
  • Played in 10 Champion Trophy Tournaments taking 4 Golds, 2 silvers and 2 Bronze Medals.
  • Captained the Kookaburras from 1991 to 1994
  • Voted Best Player in the World in 1989
  • Selected in an unprecedent 10 consecutice World IX teams.
